HELADO NEGRO SEEN MY AURA

Helado Negro (Roberto Carlos Lange) creates tender pop music that hints towards artists like Devendra Banhart. Born to Ecuadorian parents in Florida, Roberto uses his bilingual talents to sing in both Spanish and English. His freshest album This is How You Smile is mellow and blissful - the song writing has a pop sensibility, but it's executed in a way that explores Roberto's native soundscape with the use of acoustic guitars and hispanic rhythms, paired at times with experimental electronic production. He has just released a video for his album track 'Seen My Aura' - a sweet love song, seemingly about the early feelings of romantic love and admiration. The video has a charmingly rough film edge, trailing children playing in a vivid turquoise swimming pool, drawing particular attention to one boy and girl who hug and smile, displaying a fondness for one another. The film coveys the care-free nature of childhood and the magical feelings around early romance and the end scenes are of Roberto himself, getting off a subway, which places the film in a nostalgic place in his own mind, giving the video a bitter-sweet ending. -Ellie Rose-Davies
